Articuno (Japenese
フリーザー Freezer) is a dual-type
Ice Flying Legendary Pokemon.
It is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon.
It is, along with Zapdos and Moltres, one of the three legendary
bird of Kanto.
Biology
Physiology
Articuno takes the form of a large bird with predominantly blue plumage. Its coloring is a cyan on its long streamer-like tail and head crest. Its head crest is fairly simple, consisting of three rhombus-shaped feathers on its forehead. Its body is a sky-blue, growing lighter on its chest and belly. Its most distinctive feature is its large wings, which look like they are made of ice. It has a small gray beak and thin, similarly-colored legs.
Gender differences
Articuno is a genderless species.
Special abilities
When Articuno flaps its wings, it can chill the moisture in the air around it, making snow fall.
Behavior
Articuno is one of the legendary birds of Kanto. Articuno is more passive than its counterparts; due to its isolation in the highest mountains, Articuno dislikes battling. It also flies from icy mountain to icy mountain. It is a poorly understood species, believed by many to be pure myth. According to legend, it appears before doomed travelers lost in icy regions. It is impossible to tell if these are valid sightings (as doomed travelers would have no way of passing on their story of the sighting), or merely delusions of the dying. It is described as being spectacular in flight: with its long tail streaming behind it, and its wings shining like ice. It is said to cause snow to fall when it flies, and has the potential ability to create blizzards.
Habitat
Articuno lives in cold, isolated locations, such as mountain peaks. Articuno are known to roost inside the SeaFoam Islands of Kanto,Frosty Forest and Mt.Avalance in the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon world, and Mt.Sorbet in Oblivia. Articuno is an extremely rare Pokémon. In Pokemon Platinum, it roams around Sinnoh, showing that it can withstand warmer temperatures.

Zapdos (Japanese:
サンダー Thunder) is a dual-type
Electric Flying Legendary Pokemon.
It is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon.
It is, along with Articuno and Moltres, one of the three birds of Kanto.
Biology
Physiology
Zapdos has the form of a large bird with black and yellow plumage. Its spiky feathers make it look like it is made of lightning. Its tail feathers stick out in several directions, furthering this illusion. A large crest of feathers decorates its head, and distinctive black rings encircle its eyes. Its beak is very long and thin. While Zapdos is the smallest and lightest of the legendary birds, it is still a fairly large Pokémon.
Gender differences
Zapdos is a genderless species.
Special abilities
When Zapdos flaps its glittering wings, it releases electricity, potentially causing thunderstorms.
Behavior
Zapdos is one of the legendary birds of Kanto. It is a poorly understood species, believed by many to be pure myth. It is always seen in conjunction with thunderstorms, leading many to believe that it gathers energy from the electricity in the atmosphere. It is also reported to cause massive crackling and snapping sounds when it flies; these are attributed to the lightning bolts it is said to shed when airborne.
Habitat
When Zapdos is sighted, which is not often, it is almost always during electrical storms. It appears to live in thunderclouds, but one is said to live in or near a power plant in Kanto. It may be attracted by the electricity the plant produces.

Moltres (Japanese: ファイヤー Fire) is a dual-type Fire Flying Legendary Pokemon.
It is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon.
It is, along with Articuno and Zapdos, one of the three legendary birds of Kanto.
PhysiologyBiology
Moltres takes the form of a large bird with flame-colored plumage, resembling a phoenix. Its dazzling wings and elaborate head crest appear to be covered with flames. It has a straight, pointed brown beak, which is the same color as its feet. Compared to the other legendary birds, it has the smallest feet and legs. However, it is the largest of the legendary birds, but its feathers make up a good portion of its bulk.
Gender differences
Moltres is a genderless species.
Special abilities
When Moltres flaps its wings, it creates a brilliant flash of flames. It is also one of the few Pokémon known to naturally wield the very powerful Flying-type move Sky
Attack.
Behavior
Moltres is one of the legendry birds of Kanto, and is a poorly understood species, believed by many to be pure myth. Its behavior is largely clandestine, but it appears to migrate to the south during the springtime. There are many folktales surrounding this species, but perhaps the most popular is that its appearance will bring about an early spring. When Moltres flaps its wings, it sheds hundreds of tiny embers. It is believed that these embers have healing properties. If injured, it will immerse itself in lava to heal.
Habitat
Rare Pokemon
Moltres appear to live in hot regions, particularly active volcanoes. They are spectacularly rare. Moltres have been sighted on Victory Road
and near theSevii Islands. One has been recently sighted, roaming Sinnonh. Another, possibly the one from Victory Road, lives in Mt.Silver .
